Singer/songwriter Martin Sexton is currently on tour, headlining about twenty live dates which began in early January and runs to theend of February. Sexton is currently promoting his new live album, “Live At theFillmore.”The album features just Sexton with an acoustic guitar singing someof his greatest original storied songs like “Candy” and “Diner.” Sextoninteracts with the audience, commenting on the aroma of the concert hall andthanking his fans for coming out to see him in this economical state of theU.S.
Sexton picks up the tempo with “Failure,” but the highlightof the album comes in the form of a cover of The Beatles’ “A Day In The Life.”He creates a dreamy atmosphere with his sound while the words of Paul McCartneyand John Lennon dance along to the music. The album closes with his encore, which includes acover of Prince’s “Purple Rain” done as if Sexton was originally telling thestory and the quick, Ray Charles sounding patriotic “America.”
